Blood

The blood that ties is the love that binds that holds us two.
Arms entwined, the wind, the vines, the me, the you.
The blood that ties is the love that binds that holds us two.
The fog, the tide, the stars, the light: they guide us through.

Rushing, flushing, blushing, touching, and bein’ with you.
Caring, sharing, baring, staring, and breathin’ with you.

The blood that ties is the love that binds that holds us two.
The words, the ache, the heart, the break, the raw, the cruel.
The blood that ties is the love that binds that holds us two.
There’s "love", the word, and "love", the verb, that proves us true.

Seeing is believing, hide and seek, I’m playin’ with you.
Knowing, showing, living, growing, and bein’ with you.

The blood that ties is the love that binds that holds us two.
The games we played, the lies we said, the fearful truth.
The blood that ties is the love that binds that holds us two.
The been there, tried, the satisfied, with me, with you-who.

Leaves

As each leaf turns to its fall,
Goes to heaven one and all.
As each season claims it’s win,
Live and die and over again.

Oh, they remind me of leaves.
I wish some would stay.
Oh, they remind me:
of leaves...
... I wish some could stay.

Oh, they remind me of leaves,
And all that they say.
I wish some could stay.

As each leaf turns to its fall,
Goes to heaven one and all.

As each season claims it’s win,
Live and die and over again.
Oh, they remind me of leaves:
All that they say,
Good for the green,
Then they fall away.

And they remind me of leaves,
And all their games
We "live", we "die",
And it’s over again.

Oh, they remind of leaves
And all that they say:
We "go to hell",
And they love it that way.

And they remind me of leaves
And all that must end.
Live and Die, baby, never again
And they remind me... of leaves,
Oh, they remind me... of leaves.

Oh, they remind me
Of leaves.
I wish some could stay.

hAPPY hOLIDAY

She says she’s so mean, "So",
She should be so mad.
She says she’s so mean, "So",
I should be so glad.

She says she’s so sleep, "He,
Raped and done me wrong."
She says she’s Not guilty.
"Played me way too long."

All these people I do not forgive:
Hey, I was bound to live.
I am sinner, I am saint:
Human in between.

She says she’s "So ugly,
Monster is all I see."
She says she’s "So easy."
Loves me like a breeze.

I’m so sorry you don’t understand,
Your pity and your shame.
I’m so sorry, my heart is closed,
hAPPY hOLIDAY.

I say you’re a bully,
Because you were abused.
I say I forgive you,
Even though we’re through.

Just...

Maybe I’ll fly away,
Catch me another plane,
Take ride across the sky,
Or just trust my old jalopy.

Or maybe I’ll just stay,
Right here with you,
You, you, you.
You, you, you.

I throw the Sun across the sky!
I write my Voice on the wind!
I swim across an ocean’s length!
And I always win!

Today I remember you,
The best part of my life.
The day I marry you,
Some kind of wife.

And that’s why I just stay,
Right here with you,
You, you, you.
You, you, you.
You.

I just awoke, I just arised!
I just crossed the sea!
I just want to be with you!
I just want to be,
With you-who,
You-who,
You-who.

Free Wish

Plastic boobs and boner pills,
Overeating and reflux pills,
Too much sitting and backache pills,
Oprah’s changing anxiety pills.

Overhead, a jet fighter flies,
Her eyes are wide,
Her mind is sketchy:
She’s tweaking.
And what doe she see?
Oh, no, a baby’s head is exploding,
And it looks so real, just like on T.V.,
You know what I mean

Alcie-hol and ciggie-rettes,
Firearms and photo sex,
Angry thoughts and angry minds.
These are The Days, these are The Times.

Hark, the herald angels sing,
Glory to the newborn kings,
They’ll be laughin’.
And what do they know?
A million pointed lies and no one is Happy.
I wonder how you sleep...
Oh yeah, ya’ got pillows, all your pretty pills.
I got a pill to wake me, a pill to take me higher,
What else could I need? Now, let me sleep...

She say’s, "I’m not Happy,
What else should I be?
I wanna live my dream."

Ah, me? I’m keepin’ my pennies,
`Cause wishes are free.

The Man Who Wasn’t There
Copyright 2001 Bob Sfarzo. All rights reserved.

We live in daze where spies are cool,
We live and die by the Temple rule,
The World is a stage, Blood lust reigns,
Over us innocent fools,
Who cannot decide amid all the confusion,
While the gravity forces all the Allusions.
I don’t care,
I’m the man who wasn’t there.

Like a shadow cast along a wall,
Like a murmur that echoes through the Hall.

Bait, tape, and then extort them.
Protection racket of Imperialist aggression.
Lazy, hurried, tired, sleepless,
Windup mice in a dizzying maze.
A Rapture Passes Over like a Crystal Night,
When it’s just easier to be kind.
I don’t care,
I’m the man who wasn’t there.

Like a shadow cast along a wall,
Like a murmur that echoes through the Hall.

And it’s all said and done,
When the Winners win and had their F-un,
And all the losers go home to their prepaid graves,
Aw, I don’t care, I’m the Man who wasn’t there.

Forever Summer
Copyright 2001 Bob Sfarzo. All rights reserved.

I remember so long ago,
When half of you were not born.

By a seaside we would lay,
To cool off on a summer’s day,
It was sweltering,
And there we would lay,
The smell of summer evades.

I remember so long ago,
When half of you were not born.
I remember that long ago,
When half of you were not born.

We would lay on a tired day,
A war across a sea I cannot say,
Does it matter?
And though it’s the same:
Here we sit and lay.

Forever summer,
I wish it would stay,
Warm and dry forever that way.
Forever summer,
I wish it could stay,
Warm and dry that way,

I remember so long ago,
When half of you were not born.
I remember so long ago,
When half of you were not born.

By a seaside we would lay,
To keep us cool on a summer daze,
It was sweltering,
And there we would lay,
A war, a land, an ocean away,

Forever summer,
I wish it would stay,
Warm and dry,
For: Ever.

My Angel’s Rose
Copyright 2004 Bob Sfarzo. All rights reserved.

An ode to my Angel's rose,
She’s laughing outside my windows
She’s dancing, my heaven’s sprite, my Angel’s rose.

By the seaside and past the driftwood,
Ol’ bittersweet is as she should.
Heaven knows her. I wish them well,
Me and my Angel’s rose.

I cross the channel, baby, twice a day.
When tides are low, god made it that way.
Given choices, oh, so many choices,
This one is clear to me.

You see my Rose,
She knows I know she knows
I know she knows I know,
My Rose.

We learn the lesson: Forgiveness.
We learn the lesson: Trust.
Given choices, oh, so many choices,
This one is clear to me.

Because my Rose,
She knows I know she knows
I know she knows I know,
My Rose.

Tall Tale
Copyright 2001 Bob Sfarzo. All rights reserved.

Early in my morning,
Early in my day,
One foot in the ocean,
The other in a grave.

This one’s for the children,
Young and old alike,
Who believe in love songs,
They’re never out of Style.

I’d write a million stories just for you, baby,
Tear a million tall tales from my heart.
I’d slay a million dragons, if just one were real,
Why?  They all came between me and you,
Me and you.

So, go on, tape my voice,
Just, say, it’s yours.
Go on, tape my word:
Say it’s something you Heard.

I’d write a million stories just for you, baby,
Tear a million tall tales from my heart.
I’d slay a million dragons, if just one were real,
Why?  They all came between me and you,
Me and you.

Bells and Whistles
Copyright 2006 Bob Sfarzo. All rights reserved.

I work a job, a convenience store,
Alcie-hol and cig-e-rettes.
The little kids steal candy bars,
I just look the other way.

My pay is low,
It’s never enough.
Tell me: what would it take,
For you to walk in my shoes?
That’s what I oughta make.

My manager is an Angry Man,
Snickers behind your back.
And when the gift-wrapped garbage breaks,
She chuckles and she laughs.

Can’t help it: they were raised that way.
Parents, teachers, friends.
We’re sum total of experience:
That’s why it never ends.

Oh, the days when bells and whistles rang.
Flags unfurled and, oh, you children swang.
Did you hear the emperor say:
"We won the peace."
And did you hear, "This great crusade,
Steals the most from the least,
Steals the most for the least?"

Oh, the days when bells and whistles ring.
Flags unfurl and all you children swing.
Mom and Dad are makin’ up,
These and other lies,
To keep you children in a state of shocking "aw",
That’s why you never try,
That’s why you always whine.

Oh, One Day, the bells and whistles shall ring.
Flags unfurl and, oh, the children shall sing.
And you will hear this emperor say:
"Hey, we deserve our peace."
And you will hear, "No more Crusades."
"Blessed are the meek,
Oh, and blessed are the weak."

Valley Of Fire
Copyright 2005 Bob Sfarzo. All rights reserved.

Lay my soul in a Valley of Fire,
Let the flames grow high, high, high and higher.
I don’t mind.

Lay my soul in a Valley of Fire,
Let the plains grow dry, dry, dry and drier.
I don’t mind...
... the Valley of Fire.

Big Sky, mile high, fire of miles,
Big Tribe, honey light,  rocks pile higher and higher.
I don’t mind...
... the Valley of Fire.

A Valley of Fire to lay my soul.
Let the die roll, roll, roll, and roll.
I got my soul...
... it’s my soul.

I want to run, run, run like a wind on fire,
Through the Valley where my soul lays low, low, low,
For a whi-le,
Through the Valley of Fire.
